ANIMA – the soul within – An exhibition of Sculptures and Paintings By Antonio Mifsud
Posted by: Emmanuel Caruana in Antonio Mifsud, Blogroll| The Inquisitor’s Palace will be hosting an exhibition of works by artist Antonio Mifsud from the 1st to 31st October 2008. For his exhibition ‘Anima – the soul within’, Antonio Mifsud is presenting a series of easel and wall-pannel sculptures, and abtract paintings. Mifsud is trying to explain the abstract part of the human being. For Mifsud, sacred art stems from man’s innate spiritual need. Beyond their religious meaning, each piece of work represents more than one possible way of interpreting this need, giving shape to our collective values, beliefs and religious perceptions. Academic artistic traditions are revived in Mifsud’s composition through the use of different media. This collection of paintings and sculptures will be inaugurated on the 2nd October 2008 by H.E., Dr. Edward Fenech Adami, President of Malta. |
| The mystical sense and architectural style of the Inquisitor’s palace merge with Mifsud’s work to create an atmosphere of reflection for those who visit this exhibition. This exhibition is being orginised with the support of HERITAGE MALTA, BOV, FEXCO MALTA, MARSOVIN and ALPHA PRODUCTIONS. |
| Antonio Mifsud was born in Malta in 1977. He receved his first art lessons under the guidance of Dr. Gorg Mallia at the Archbihop’s Seminary Secondary School Malta. Later studied privately under the tutelage of sculptor Chev. Alfred Camilleri Cauchi O.R.C.B. He is also a stage/poster designer, artistic director and script-writer for television/radio productions (Bottega: nominated category Best Documentary in the Go Television Awards 20007) in Malta. |
